Our Transition to TowneBank

We are excited to share that on September 1, 2025, Old Point National Bank will become a division of TowneBank. We have worked together closely for several months to prepare to join our two great banks. The warm reception from Bob Aston, Billy Foster, and the TowneBank family has been everything you would expect from a company built on the idea of serving others and enriching lives.

Why has Old Point affiliated with TowneBank?

Old Point National Bank has entered into this relationship with TowneBank to create a stronger community bank with deep roots in the Hampton Roads area. For you, it means the same relationship-based banking delivered with a personal touch, but with greater technical, financial, and geographical capability.

  • Together, we can better meet the growing technology needs that customers want to access their accounts.
  • We will be able to handle larger loan requests and deposit relationships.

We invite you to learn more about TowneBank here.

What does this mean for my daily banking needs?

While we come under one management team, you will continue to bank as usual at our 13 Old Point locations with the bankers you know. For now, your account information and all the ways that you access your Old Point account – including your Old Point debit card, online and mobile banking, deposit tickets, checks, and loan payments – remain the same. As a convenience, beginning on September 1, 2025, you may use your Old Point debit and ATM cards at any Towne24 ATM surcharge-free. You can find a complete listing at TowneBank.com/Locations.

All other fees, terms, and conditions for your Old Point products are unaffected at this time. A December mailing will include details about what to expect when we start operating under the TowneBank name in February. That mailing will provide information about your accounts, debit and credit cards, and access to all the great services that TowneBank provides. We will also continue to share information here.

Both Old Point and TowneBank provide you with the assurance of FDIC deposit insurance protection. Beginning September 1, 2025, the FDIC will view us as a single deposit institution. If you have combined deposit accounts at Old Point and TowneBank exceeding the standard insurance amount of $250,000, please talk to your banker for guidance. There is a six-month grace period following mergers where insurance coverage remains separate, and in some cases, accountholders may qualify for FDIC insurance coverage well above $250,000. We are here to work with you to make sure you receive the full benefit of your coverage options.

You have our promise that we will do everything we can to make the transition as seamless as possible. We look forward to a bright future where we can provide even more resources to meet your financial needs as a part of TowneBank.
